[Milwaukee, Wis.], [09/24] – The School District of Shorewood installed 2 solar photovoltaic (PV) electric systems this fall. The smaller PV (photovoltaic) system, located on the roof of the Administration Building at the High School is a 2.24 kilowatt (KW) array. This solar array will be used as a demonstration system and as an educational tool for students and community members. Students will study, track and analyze the system performance utilizing web based monitoring of the energy output and CO2 reduction, as well as collect temperature and weather data.

The second PV system is a 12.54KW roof mounted array which is located on the Intermediate School roof. Both systems will be monitored and studied by the students in the high school as well as the intermediate school. Both systems are expected to produce 18,391 kilowatt hour (kWh) annually. The two PV systems are set to be commissioned and connected to the We Energies grid on Friday Sept 25th at 10am.
